This blog is based on my recent newsletter, sent to all those subscribed to my email distribution list. I thought as there was some stuff relevant to a wider a audience I’d share it on the blog so more people have the opportunity to find out what’s going on in the next few weeks!
Retail Trust : Riot-recovery workshops for independent retailers
Next week I’m participating in 2 ½ day events developed by Retail Trust (www.retailtrust.org.uk) to support Independent Retailers affected by the riots in August. On 18th we’re in Tottenham and on 20th we’re in Croydon – 2 of the worst affected areas.
The workshops are in 2 parts; Part 1 will include a counsellor who is there to support those experiencing the emotional effects of what happened. They’ll be giving advice and support for the business owners and for their staff. In Part 2 I’ll be talking about a recovery action plan. How those affected can get back on their feet quickly; how to reduce the commercial impact and how to put in place risk mitigation and disaster recover processes to reduce the consequences should anything like that ever happen to them again.
I’ll share the full details, including how to sign up for these FREE sessions, as soon as I have more information. If you or anyone you know was impacted please do pass on the information so that more people can benefit from what Retail Trust are doing.
The Business Start-up Show : Starting a Retail Business
The Business Start-up show takes place in London’s Earls Court 2 on 17th and 18th of November. It’s free to attend and includes a phenomenal line up of speakers. It’s fair to say whilst called “the business start-up show” the content is applicable to almost all smaller businesses!
This year there is an area dedicated to retail – http://bstartup.com/features/starting-retail-business and as of yesterday the organisers convinced me to reduce my speaking fee (!) so I’ll be at the show to delivering 2 keynotes. If you’re coming along I’m on at 11am and again at 4pm on the 17th – http://bstartup.com/seminars/clare-rayner.html
